TECO
A Specialist in All kinds of Security System Integration

Magdy Sidhom, Vice Chairman , TECOMagdy Sidhom, Vice Chairman
Despite knowing the importance of security in today’s business world, most organizations still follow the traditional approach and have individual systems implemented for various tasks. As these systems do not communicate with each other, organizations often find themselves saddled with issues such as missing out critical information, unable to compile insights from various systems and make actionable decisions. On top of that, the existing security solution vendors in the market lack integration capabilities and fail to offer the desired support services for these systems post-sales, which negatively impacts customer loyalty and trust. When it comes to the overall security monitoring, every second is important. As a result, organizations today need a reliable partner that can help in integrating all the security surveillance systems and delivering peace of mind. Having been in the industry for over 40 years, a Cairo-based full-service engineering contractor, TECO provides a holistic and unified solution for surveillance by integrating security systems and other related systems.

TECO’s comprehensive services offer more than just surveillance systems; it includes other components in the low current systems such as security systems, fire alarm systems, evacuation systems, audiovisual systems, and several others. “Our objective is to bring disparate security systems into a single ecosystem so that organizations can easily monitor, collect information and turn them into actionable insights,” states Magdy Sidhom, Vice Chairman of TECO.

How it all started?

TECO set off its journey in 1979, providing a simple security system such as CCTV. At that time, there was no integration, and the most popular connection between different systems was being achieved through dry contact relays. Later in the ’90s, they started to use Computer-Aided Design programs like AutoCAD to produce shop drawings and different simulation programs to calculate the expected results of its proposed systems. The company also had different software to calculate the speech intelligibility factors for the voice evacuation system. Gradually, in the 2000s, TECO invented and produced the first Network Surveillance System, where the team designed, produced, and programmed in-house a system, which was capable of testing speakers’ network for voice evacuation system and checks for short circuit, open circuit and earth leakage of speakers’ network with the main function of isolating faulty loops. This Network Surveillance System was delivered to one of the most prestigious projects in Egypt. The company recognized the importance of Software Integration between different systems and realized fully integrated systems is the future. Since then, TECO has become the leader in integration services for multiple systems across the Egyptian market.

The X Factor

One of the major reasons TECO becomes the go-to partner for businesses is its in-depth knowledge about integration ability to write and understand different codes to get different systems to communicate with each other and utilize different gateways from third party products to interface between different systems. “Along with know-how, we have a dedicated, trained team from different surveillance and security systems manufacturers,” says Sidhom. The unique aspect of TECO’s dedicated team is that each member specializes in every security system. For instance, they don’t let a person work only on CCTV systems or access control; they train everyone to deal with different systems. This way, the company ensures that every engineer will be trained to have the capability and understanding of different systems.

For now, TECO does not accept projects with a single system. They insist on offering complete, fully integrated systems, which will offer clients results they were unaware of.“We learned from our management that we have to be either White or Black, especially when we fill compliance statement to project specifications,” explains Sidhom.

Carving a Niche in the Security Space

With such unparalleled capabilities, TECO has been successful in helping several customers integrate their security systems and achieve peace of mind.

The company’s proficiency in providing integrated systems has assisted it in completing a wide range of projects across multiple sectors with special emphasis on airport projects. One of its most notable projects was to ensure surveillance of an airport in Egypt, where the company offered security systems and low current integration services. TECO integrated the access control system and CCTV with the fire alarm and building management system to control every unit at the airport. Additionally, it offered video analytics for the highsecurity areas and integrated with the systems dedicated for lost or left packages.

In another instance, one of the largest consultancy firms in the Middle East mentioned to the manufacturer that “Although your company is not listed in our approved manufacturers list, but only because TECO is introducing your products in the project and confirmed compliance of your products to the project specifications we will accept your products, as we know that TECO will not put their reputation at the edge and introduce a company to us unless they are 100% assure of the success with this company.”

A Future Rooted In Success

TECO has the edge over other competitors to deliver projects on time while catering to the clients’ requirements efficiently. Even in critical times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and a global shortage of semiconductors, the company succeeded in delivering its services without delays. Moreover, TECO’s professional experience over the last 40 years has helped them win the faith of a broader client base, facilitating it to enter Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Nigeria, Oman, and Kuwait markets, more and above Egypt.

TECO’s team has been pivotal to its success. Hence, the company focuses significantly on the satisfaction and contentment of its staff, which helps to improve efficiency in its services in the long run. Further, TECO’s motivating work culture has made it possible to retain its employees for a considerably long time, which also helps to win customer loyalty and trust as the customers can rely on the same team for maintenance services.

Our Objective Is To Bring Disparate Security Systems Into A Single Ecosystem So That Organizations Can Easily Monitor, Collect Information And Turn Them Into Actionable Insights

As TECO sets on a promising path to the future, it looks forward to further expanding the business. Besides, the company has laid plans for entrenching into the African market. “We are carefully planning to introduce newer products and technologies for our clients and slowly expand,” mentions Sidhom.
