Biometric technology provides compelling solutions for security as the systems are convenient and hard to duplicate.
FREMONT, CA: Several personal and commercial security solutions are incorporating the biometrics as an enhanced layer. This may appear infallible because of the unique identifiers in genetics and behavior. On the other hand, biometric identity has made many people wary of using it as a stand-alone authentication method.
Conventional passwords have long been a point of weakness for security systems, and modern cybersecurity is centred on lowering the dangers associated with this robust security solution. Biometrics tries to address this problem by tying proof-of-identity to the bodies and patterns of behavior.

What is Biometrics?
For a simple biometrics' description, biological measurements or physical features that can recognize individuals are known as biometrics. Fingerprint mapping, facial recognition, and retina scanning are examples of biometric technology, even though these are only the most well-known.
Biometric Security Works
Biometric identity is becoming increasingly important in the daily security. Even in the event of twins, physical attributes are essentially constant and individualized. Password systems for computers, phones, and limited access rooms and buildings can be replaced or supplemented with a person's unique biometric identity.
When the biometric data has been collected and mapped, it is retained to be verified with future access attempts. This information is usually encrypted and saved on the device or a remote server.
Reasons why biometric data is safe from hackers
Biometric templates are useless to fraudsters.
A biometric sample, like an image or a voice recording, is converted into a template by biometric systems. These templates can't be used to restore the original model. Only the templates, not the original biometric data, are stored in a modern biometric system. The templates do not include personal details about the individual, like age, gender, or unique physical attributes. Even if a template is stolen, there is nothing that can be done with it. Additionally, by following best practices for encrypting data at rest, any thief who steals the templates will be left with two levels of meaningless bytes.
Biometrics are not the only authentication factor.
Multiple security measures are in place to secure personal information and transactions in regulated industries and high-assurance applications. Three different criteria are required for robust customer authentication: something users remember (such as a PIN), something they have (like the phone), or something they are (a biometric). For example, a bank may let users log in to their mobile app using face biometrics with liveness. They will also use the mobile device as a token for specific high-risk transactions and may even request a second biometric modality or One Time Password. This is in addition to powerful artificial intelligence that may be used to detect abnormal behavior.
