Organizations have access to a plethora of new features and functionality with SD-WAN, which must be appropriately designed depending on the various requirements of an organization’s locations.
FREMONT, CA: Many businesses are considering transitioning to software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) services to make their networks more agile, configurable, and, in many cases, cost-effective. SD-WANs have several advantages. Instead of waiting 30 days or more for their MPLS networks to be reconfigured, they enable businesses that are struggling to meet ever-increasing bandwidth demands to quickly provision more network capacity and coax the output they need from their WANs. When it comes to SD-WAN technology, there are three ways that businesses can simplify the process and minimize risk:

Before implementing SD-WAN, businesses should have a clear idea of what they want to achieve. One possible SD-WAN use is to provide a more effective route to cloud services, or maybe the organization needs to simplify network configuration. Whatever the cause, having a business goal in mind before assessing SD-WAN platforms is critical.
Consider the Internal Resources Before Moving Forward
SD-WAN differs from other infrastructure technologies in that it is a software-defined network. It will not be a simple ‘set it and forget it’ venture. To achieve the desired results, the new platform will require constant monitoring. In some instances, an SD-WAN vendor is there to sell a product, not to make the product function with a company’s existing network to achieve desired results. SD-WAN adopters will benefit from the right partner’s methodology to find out where they want to go. They will assist clients with creating a business case, selecting a platform, and designing the platform. Measure twice and cut once, as carpenters like to say.
Embrace Managed Services
Most businesses do not have large networking teams because they are trying to do something with less. Using a provider to handle the SD-WAN service makes a lot of sense if one does not have their own network operations center. Organizations have access to a plethora of new features and functionality with SD-WAN, which must be appropriately designed depending on the various requirements of an organization’s locations. One of the biggest advantages of SD-WAN is that it helps companies to ‘right size’ their WANs. Managed services companies are also the best suited to assist organizations with this transformation because they have a wealth of experience and knowledge.
