The Linux Foundation, a non-profit corporation, has declared about a new certification, known as the Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS) related to development.

FREMONT, CA: The Linux Foundation is a non-profit corporation that provides mass improvement with the help of open source, and Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), which builds sustainable ecosystems for cloud-native software. Presently they have declared about a new certification, known as the Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS) related to development. It is estimated that the certification will be obtainable before the KubeCon North America event this November.

CKS will be comprised of a performance-based certification exam that will analyze the competency across a wide range of good quality practices that will secure the container-based applications and Kubernetes platforms while building, deployment, and runtime. The applicants for CKS must have a present Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification that will determine whether they have adequate Kubernetes expertise before sitting for the CKS.

The new certification is being established to offer cloud-native professionals with an opportunity where they can prove their security skills to present and potential employers. The certification exam will analyze various fields and expertise that consists of:

Cluster Hardening

Supply Chain Security

Monitoring, Logging, and Runtime Security

System Hardening

Cluster Setup

Minimize Microservice Vulnerabilities

As per the SVP and general manager of training & certification at The Linux Foundation, Clyde Seepersad "not only has cloud conquered the world, but adoption of containers and other cloud-native technologies is also accelerating." "as this trend continues, organizations' concerns over the security of their application containers are growing. Individuals with experience securing containers are already in high demand, and as that demand increases, it is necessary to have a way to verifiably confirm candidates for these job roles have the skills to succeed. The Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist exam will help grow the pool of qualified talent, while also providing employers with confidence that their teams are able to handle the challenges of securing these technologies."

According to Priyanka Sharma, general manager, Cloud Native Computing Foundation, "As the use of Kubernetes in production soars, it is critical that those who are managing it understand how to do so securely." She even said that "The Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist exam will be a valuable add on to the CKA certification for those who want to broaden their working Kubernetes knowledge to include ever-important security best practices."
