Predictions for 2022 are comparable to the security scenario in 2021. However, we may anticipate cyberattacks becoming more prominent in scope and more sophisticated. Ransomware assaults, cloud threats, and supply chain breaches are the most critical dangers enterprises face this year. Mitigating these dangers entails enterprises rethinking their approach to security, not necessarily through the addition of new capabilities.
Supply Chain Attacks: Since the COVID-19 pandemic, supply networks worldwide have grown more precarious regarding operations security. Malicious actors quickly used this vulnerability to target weak places in the supply chain, aggravating the issue. Notably, cyber risks have increased by 81 percent since the outbreak of the epidemic.
As the COVID war approaches its third year, despite the progress accomplished thus far, there is no clear end in sight. As a result, security leaders should prepare for an increase in supply chain threats in 2022; after all, cyber attackers thrive in areas where security monitoring is lax.
Supply chains are particularly vulnerable, as such centralized platforms have a low entrance hurdle for hostile actors. And although today's supply chains are decentralized, the security architecture is centralized, leaving endpoints dangerously vulnerable.
