Technology and software can prevent fires by adopting fire protection systems, and those are video smoke and flame detection, air sampling smoke detectors, smoke alarms, and BIM
FREMONT, CA: There are many industries that can benefit from digitalization and new technologies, and fire safety is no different. As technology has advanced, fire prevention has become more effective and reliable since the invention of the first automated water sprinkler.
As a result of digitalization and the adoption of new technologies, fire safety systems will become more efficient, connected, and sustainable in the future.

There are two main types of fire protection: passive fire protection and active fire protection. A passive fire protection system uses building components to prevent the spread of fire, such as firewalls, floors, and ceilings, which resist fire passage for a certain period. Buildings are divided into compartments to reduce the size of a fire. This article, however, focuses on fire protection systems that use direct action to prevent fire and smoke from spreading without alarming more people than necessary about an emergency. Sprinkler systems, smoke detectors, and fire alarms are probably familiar to individuals. Below are new and improved solutions that have been discussed that people might not have heard of before.
Detection of smoke and flame using video: Early warnings provided by smoke and flame detectors can trigger fire protection systems and allow people to evacuate safely in an emergency.
Smoke detectors are often used at home to detect smoke molecules, and they are often effective, although not always. It is true that video smoke or flame detection technology has a higher efficiency and may prove to be essential in some areas.
Smoke detectors with air sampling: A fire hazard warning system continuously works to provide the earliest possible warning. Detecting early fires allows them to be suppressed before they spread.
Video image detection (VID) technology relies on two components to detect fire: cameras and computer algorithms. Cameras scan the area and send the footage to a computer, which then runs an algorithm "trained" to identify smoke and fire signatures. If the computer detects an alarm, it sends a signal to the alarm control system.
When connected to a computer with VID software, VID systems can work on standard security cameras, which is great news if the facility already has cameras.
Building Information Modeling (BIM): BIM provides architects, engineers, and operators with a multidimensional model that contains all relevant building information. A fire detection system, for example, or the fire resistance of a door or wall, is among the most important data about fire protection. Using BIM ensures that all specialists working on the project have access to the same data.
