FREMONT, CA:Today, enterprise security is akin to defending a fortress under siege on all sides, from digital networks to apps to network endpoints. Because of this complication, Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovations like deep learning and machine learning have emerged as game-changing defensive arms in the enterprise's arsenal in the last three years. No other technology is capable of keeping up. It can quickly analyze billions of data points and spot trends, allowing an organization to respond intelligently and instantly to several possible threats.

However, it is worth noting that cybercriminals will use increasingly simple AI solutions as effective weapons against businesses. In a never-ending game of one-upmanship, they can launch counter-attacks against AI-led defenses. They could even break into the AI itself. After all, most AI algorithms depend on training data, and if hackers can tamper with the training data, the algorithms that power successful protection can be distorted. Cybercriminals can also create their own AI applications to find weaknesses even quicker than before and even faster than defenders can patch them.

So, how does an enterprise CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) ensure that this technology is used to its full potential to protect the company? The key is to take advantage of a phenomenon known as Moravec's paradox, which states that tasks that are simple for computers or AI are difficult for humans and vice versa. To put it another way, merge the latest technologies with the human intelligence capital of the CISO.

Suppose there are instructions on certain IP addresses or websites that are considered to be the source of malicious malware activity, for example. In that case, the AI can be trained to search for them, take action, learn from the experience, and become better at detecting such activity in the future. When such attacks occur on a large scale, AI would be much more effective than humans at detecting and neutralizing threats.
