The acquisition advances the vision of Ataccama of providing organizations and data teams the opportunity to evolve at an exponential pace while retaining their data confidence, confidentiality, and governance.

FREMONT, CA: Ataccama, a leading provider of self-driving data management and governance solutions, has announced the acquisition of Tellstory, an innovative startup and easy-to-use data visualization platform that offers a unique, visually appealing, and engaging way to tell data-driven stories. The acquisition advances the vision of Ataccama of providing organizations and data teams the opportunity to evolve at an exponential pace while retaining their data confidence, confidentiality, and governance. It enriches the flagship Ataccama ONE platform, completing the AI-powered data processing and governance fabric's data visualization capabilities.

"Tellstory solves the problem of dashboards that are highly useful for analysts with specific, complex requirements, but painful for readers who are less skilled at configuring a BI tool, interpreting data, and finding critical bits of information. It visualizes data through data-driven stories, similar to a dynamic infographic. It leverages AI to provide active intelligence and data insights, selecting and highlighting the most interesting facts for the reader and recommending the optimal way to visualize them," says David Lazar, UX Designer, Tellstory.

The companies share a deep cultural and technological compatibility with each other and a mission to democratize access to data and enhance corporate data literacy. One of the primary considerations in the decision to purchase Tellstory was this compatibility. As an integral part of Ataccama ONE, it will allow further growth of Tellstory, ensuring that Ataccama users continue to appreciate the convenience and benefits of a streamlined, single platform experience.

The ability of the tool to intelligently pick data elements and highlights matches well with the vision of Ataccama to provide consumers with a self-driving data collection and governance experience. The vision, goals, technology, and company culture of Tellstory are closely matched with those of Ataccama, making it a good fit for Ataccama at the organization and product level.

Ataccama ONE Gen2 provides any customer in a business with the ability to quickly explore, grasp, trust, and use their data services. Users can peek into the data through embedded data profiling, data consistency control, and data previews to learn if it is suitable for the intended use and if it can be trusted. By delivering rich data tales related to a single person or a team on top of cataloged data assets, Tellstory can take this experience to another stage. Without the user ever leaving the site, data stewards would be able to apply business meaning to the data, giving a clearer insight into the business importance of given data assets.

Intelligent reporting capabilities will also be offered by Tellstory for data quality initiatives, making it easier to exchange personalized data quality information. Similar functionality will be accessible on top of master data management repositories.

Contract terms were not disclosed. The entire Tellstory.cloud team and leadership has entered Ataccama as part of the product organization. In addition to the Ataccama ONE Gen2 GA release in March 2021, Tellstory will be released as a multi-tenant tool with a free tier version available. Later in the year, for a smooth user interface, Tellstory will be incorporated into the current Ataccama ONE network. It will boost data discovery in the Ataccama Data Catalog and, on top of Ataccama ONE, have the intelligent analytical capability.
