A digital security service called Xfinity xFi Advanced Security was recently launched across the U.S. by Comcast CMCSA. The service is powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) which will provide the users’ protection for their connected devices that are attached to their home Wi-Fi. When attached to the Xfinity Advanced Gateway, the XFi Advanced Security will monitor and block any breaches or threats to the users’ connected devices. The service would notify the consumer about the blocked threat and give them guidelines to shield the affected devices. The XFi dashboard will have all the reports for the users to check about the security-related actions taken in a day.
The new security solution was launched at the right time as the threats surrounding the Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices were rising massively. According to Cisco CSCO, a user is expected to be connected to almost 13 IoT devices, based on this Comcast believe that the need for security solution will see a rise. The amount of internet hi-speed internet users and internet revenue is expected to grow for Comcast for its security solution that is offered along with its Xfinity xFi platform. DOCSIS 3.1 network was extensively deployed by Comcast with its new xFi Advanced Gateway, in several markets of United States. It is expected that by upgrading to DOCSIS 3.1, Capcom will compete against AT&T’s current Fiber-to-the-Home program. All the above action is expected to boost the revenue of Capcom.
Users can view the connected devices in their network and also set parental controls. The solution has a wide range of functions like troubleshooting of issues, notifications about home network activities, and even access to Wi-Fi can be paused on some devices. To extend connectivity, xFi Pods can be connected to electrical outlets to increase the range of Wi-Fi coverage. People who rent xFi gateway can avail Xfinity xFi Advanced Security package; service can be availed for $5.99 per month. In some markets, the solution is available as a part of the package. Consumers can directly add this from the xFi app.
