My IT career has progressed through increasingly challenging and rewarding roles. Early on, I focused on building a solid foundation in Systems design and architecture, gaining hands-on experience, and understanding the intricacies of managing complex systems. A key milestone was leading the IT integration for a major acquisition, which exposed me to the complexities of merging disparate systems and cultures. This experience honed my skills in project management, stakeholder communication, and change management. Later, I transitioned into more strategic leadership positions, focusing on aligning IT with business objectives. I spearheaded initiatives in areas like ERP implementation, cybersecurity, and cloud migration, always with a focus on delivering tangible business value. My MBA in Business Management further enhanced my ability to think strategically and understand the broader business context. Unifying It Operations Across 10+ Countries: Balancing Global Consistency With Local Adaptability
One of the biggest hurdles is dealing with diverse regulatory landscapes, data privacy requirements, and varying levels of technological maturity. We addressed this by establishing a global IT governance framework with consistent standards and processes, allowing for necessary local adaptations. Another challenge is overcoming cultural and language barriers. We have invested in training and communication programs to foster a shared understanding and build strong relationships across our global teams. Finally, integrating disparate systems and infrastructure can be complex and costly. We have taken a phased approach, prioritizing key integrations and leveraging cloud technologies where possible to streamline operations and reduce complexity.

Also, as you run the IT area as a business, the MBA really helped on areas like budgeting, vendor management and negotiation, etc.

Cybersecurity and machine learning are increasingly intertwined. Machine learning enhances our cybersecurity by detecting anomalies, identifying potential threats, and automating security responses. On the other side, we need to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the data used for training machine learning models to avoid biased or inaccurate results. By integrating these two areas, we can create a more secure and intelligent IT environment that both protects our business and drives innovation, and at the same time, lower our risk when using AI models.
Approach That Adapts To Growth While Maintaining Strong Security
Balancing security and agility is an ongoing challenge. We address this by adopting a risk-based approach to security. For example, when interacting with startups, we are more flexible about security requirements in the initial stages of a PoC or MVP. As the project progresses, we work with the startups to raise their information security standards, adopting an enterprise approach before going live with the solutions. Finally, we foster a culture of security awareness throughout the organization, empowering employees to be part of the solution.

We adopt ITIL best practices as a foundation, embracing automation and cloud-based solutions to streamline ITSM when possible. We focus on proactive problem management to prevent issues before they impact users. We prioritize conducting root cause analysis (RCA) for every issue to ensure that the definitive solution is found and implemented. We also encourage experimentation and learning, allowing our teams to explore modern technologies and approaches that can bring a faster problem handling.
