According to the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance’s new Online Authentication Barometer, biometrics is now the second-most adopted authentication technology behind only passwords. It shows that biometrics—such as using fingerprints and face scans—are being used by at least 35 percent of people and are by far the most popular form of online authentication behind passwords. The Barometer further highlights how the adoption of biometrics for online authentication varies widely internationally. All the countries included in the survey reported that at least 25 percent of their population uses biometrics in some capacity.
