This is where ACG employs Sophos Heartbeat, a solution that lets endpoint protection and firewalls share telemetry and health status with each other. For instance, when unwanted applications are discovered, Heartbeat monitors any suspicious behavior to check whether the programs attempt to connect nefariously with command and control centers. In the event of an attempted breach, the firewall can block that traffic and alert the administrator to the system, IP address, user, and even the process associated with that unwanted applications.

To this day, ACG has helped several clients adopt Sophos IT security products for protection against a variety of cyber threats. Demonstrating the solutions’ capability, Sanchez Pignalosa mentions the case of a national agency, whose primary servers were affected by a ransomware attack. Luckily, the client had recently deployed Sophos Intercept X for servers. As a result, ACG’s team was able to determine the origin of the attack, which ended up being a non-compliant shared folder that allowed an infected computer to remotely start encrypting files in the server. An alert was raised to the administrator, and the system was immediately taken offline following a factory reset. The ransomware was promptly quarantined, and the server was patched to prevent any future breaches before any harm was done. The whole event was resolved quickly, with just a few clicks, resulting in only 10 minutes of downtime.
